Bernard Armour

Sheryl Barker Honeycutt - October 22nd, 2011
Bernard was such a kind and sweet guy. He always had a smile for everyone and I never heard him say a harsh or hurtful thing about or to anyone.  What a loss!
George Smith - October 20th, 2011
I first met Bernard, or "Nardie" as he was called then, in 1954 at age six when my family moved from Benton to Bossier. He was the first kid I met in Bossier as he lived right next door. We later found out that he and I were in the same room at what is now Willis Knighton when we were born, me on June 2 and he on June 11. Remember, moms and kids stayed in the hospital a lot longer back then. He was the only kid I ever saw who could run full speed, turn a flip in the air, and keep on running. He also, at about 7 years old, could do a spot on immitation of Marilyn Monroe, his favorite actress.

I didn't see much of him after elementary school as we mover to New York and New Orleans for a few years before returning to Bossier. We ran in different circles in high school so I only saw him then in the hallways of Airline. But he always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. My mother and his were best friends and I believe he died at about 45 years of age.

Bernard was a wonderful friend who always found humor in things and made my world a happy place.  We had some good, crazy times, and I have thought fondly of him over the years.

Kay Beverly Gwin - September 21st, 2011
I will always remember Bernard at our 10 Yr Class Reunion.  Every time I saw a picture of Ronald McDonald, I was reminded of Bernard.  He just fit the description.  So I asked him if he was Ronald McDonald and he just laughed.  Apparently a lot of other people thought the same thing.  Bernard was that kind of fun loving, caring guy.  He will be missed very much!
Ina Smith - September 14th, 2011

Bernard was one of the kindest souls I have ever met.  Not only was he a terrific artist, but he had poetic abilities as well.  Over the past 45 years, during rough times I have read what he wrote in my yearbook and the words inspired me to keep going.  I will never forget his kind gentle spirit.  May God bless his soul.

Dennis Black

John Kipp - October 11th, 2011

Dennis would come on Base to play weekend football with us (those who couldn't make the real team) and we would have a great time. I have touched his name on the Vietnam Wall in D.C. and shed a tear.

Joanne Fayard - September 24th, 2011
Just a note to remind everyone that Dennis gave his life in service to our country during the Viet Nam war on May 17, 1968.  He was a Specialist Sergeant in the Army and earned a Bronze Star, Viet Nam Service Medal, U.N. Ribbon, Viet Nam Distinguished Military Merit Medal and Merit Cross with Palm.  I am sure none of us thought our generation would live through two major wars and other conflicts.

Sandra Branch

Sandra Jackson Williams - September 26th, 2011
Sandra and I both lived on Broadway Drive, except at the opposite ends of the street.  I lost contact with Sandra after graduation, but will never forget her sweet personality and smile.
Judy Thibodeaux - September 25th, 2011
I knew Sandra and I were going to be friends the minute I met her in Mr. Grigsby's science class.  She was always such fun to be with, and I hate that we lost touch after high school.  She was always beautiful inside and out.

Joanne Fayard - September 21st, 2011
I remember Sandra very fondly as always smiling and happy and very kind to everyone.   She was a joy to know!
Theresa McGowen Ball - September 8th, 2011

As many may remember Sandra Branch Aldy was my BESTest friend since 5th grade; we lived across the street on Broadway from each other.  Sandra passed away in February 2003 due to cancer.  She moved to MS and married and had 2 lovely daughters.  She had a very good life there on a cotton farm.

This guy was nutz!! What a beautiful smile and sweet nature. He will be missed.
Betty Lantrip - October 19th, 2011
Larry was one of the funniest, kindest guys I knew.  We had some really great times in the Viking band - I still see him in his uniform holding the trumpet.  Great guy.
Joanne Fayard - September 24th, 2011
Some of you may remember that Larry's family was in the landscaping and nursery business.  For our ten year reunion, Larry and his family donated their services for many of the floral decorations. Larry had a BA degree in Sociology. Larry died in 2003.
Kay Beverly Gwin - September 21st, 2011
I enjoyed knowing Larry throughout high school.  I remember him as a fun loving person.  You will be missed Larry!

Ray Forcier

Raymond Van Ray ForcierFound this photo in Ray's obit. He died in 2010.
Joanne Fayard - September 21st, 2011
Ray lived down the street from me.  Many of you may not know that Ray went on to become very involved in agriculture and among other things, gave the daily ag report on good old KWKH for years. He was involved in state fair ag and farming and animal showing and judging, etc. and Bossier Parish has an annual "Ray Forcier Memorial Rodeo" each year.  It was held in Benton where there is a small rodeo arena just a few weeks ago.
Carol Calkins - September 8th, 2011
Ray Forcier was my friend and neighbor.  He lived catty corner to me on Wakefield.  He was a confidant and counselor.  And a protector.  One night, when my parents, were away on vacation and I was working for the telephone company in Shreveport, I came home and the door was unlocked.  I was terrified as I was staying by myself.  Ray got a baseball bat and went creeping through the house to make sure no one there.  He checked every closet and under every bed!  I remember staying up all night until the sun came up locked in my pink bathroom with a kitchen knife.  Not sure who would have gotten the better end of the deal with that bat but I sure loved him for it.  I am sad that he will only be with us in spirit at this reunion.
