From Airline, I went to LSU (B.A.1970) and then to law school at the University of Virginia (J.D.1973).  I spent the first five years of my legal career at a large law firm in New York City and then, in 1978, joined the law department of Philip Morris Incorporated.  I retired in 2003 as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary of Philip Morris International Inc.  My wife Dianne Balfour grew up in West Monroe, LA, also graduated from LSU and also headed straight to New York upon graduation.  We were introduced there by a mutual friend (another LSU grad), married in 1979 and, except for 3-1/2 years in the mid-1990s when I was assigned to the European headquarters of Philip Morris in Lausanne, Switzerland, have lived iin New York ever since.  In retirement, we divide our time between an apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and a country property upstate in the Catskill region.  We are avid opera fans and world travelers.  Our principal hobbies are gardening in Dianne's case and cooking in mine.  We have no children, but one spoiled Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Roxie.

After graduation my family spent 14 months in Bangkok.  I entered Campbell Univ. in NC my freshman year and transferred to UNC-G for the remaining 3 until graduation.  I met my husband in G'boro and we married in the fall following graduation.  We travelled worldwide and moved 4 times, finally settling in Savannah, GA.  He was with Allstate Ins. and I taught elem. school 20 yrs. until Wayne was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  We enjoyed 37 yrs. together.  We have a son and daughter, two grandsons and two granddaughters, all 3 yrs. and under.  Can't wait to see everyone and catch up on the years.
